What Services Do You Offer?
What to Expect
Our team is here to support you every step of the way. If you have any questions about your pergola, let us know at or before ordering, so we can ensure the best possible experience. Please ensure that all groundwork is fully completed before our installation team arrives.
After placing your order
Once your order is confirmed, Harbour Lifestyle or a trusted contractor will contact you to arrange delivery and provide an estimated arrival time. Assembly may take several hours, depending on the pergola model and location. Please be aware that arrival times may vary due to daily scheduling.
Choose and prepare the location for your pergola
Select a location that is accessible and completely cleared of obstacles, such as furniture, toys, or plants, to avoid delays on installation day. Ensure the ground surface is appropriate for the pergola setup, including concrete, paving, or decking with adequate drainage. For your pergola to drain correctly, a standard 1:80 patio-drainage fall (1 cm drop over 80 cm) is ideal. If your patio does not have an adequate fall, or if it slopes too much, you may need to purchase our pergola packers to create the correct level. If you’re a leaseholder or tenant, make sure you have permission from the property owner for the installation.
Pergola Ground Preparation Guide
- For stone, concrete, or block paving surfaces, our team can securely bolt down the pergola. However, if your paving is older with uncertain foundations, adding concrete pads under each pergola leg may enhance stability.
- Porcelain tiles require special handling. If you’re within 80 miles of our Sudbury, Suffolk, warehouse, our team can bolt down on porcelain. Otherwise, you may need to arrange for local bolting services immediately after assembly to ensure stability.
- On wood or composite decking, pergolas can be securely bolted down with added support, like concrete pads or reinforced joists (40x40x40 cm) under each leg to prevent shifting.
- For soft surfaces like grass, artificial turf, gravel, or soil, 40x40x40 cm concrete pads, embedded at least 40 cm into the ground, are required for safe anchoring.
Note: Ensure all ground preparation is completed before the scheduled installation date. Uneven or unstable surfaces may lead to delays or additional charges.
Wall-Mounted Pergolas
When choosing a spot for a wall-mounted pergola, make sure the wall has adequate space, free of obstructions like pipes, lighting, or windows that might interfere with installation. We may ask for photos and measurements to confirm that the site is suitable. The installation team may reach out with further guidance if necessary.

Self Assembly Guides
Assembling a pergola is a detailed process, and many customers choose to take it on themselves. With careful attention and teamwork, you can complete the setup successfully. Our step-by-step video guide provides comprehensive instructions to walk you through each stage. We recommend working with at least two people to ensure a secure and efficient assembly.
Expect the assembly to take around 3–4 hours, though timing may vary based on experience, pergola model complexity, and weather—ideally, choose a dry, calm day for construction.
